Chemical peel treatments add a healthy glow and even out skin tone.

Throughout your life, different environmental and genetic factors will impact the health of your skin. The aging process and prolonged sun exposure can create skin issues such as sun damage, pigmentation issues, lines and wrinkles, acne, and acne scarring. The facial peels we offer at Laser MD Medspa can clear up numerous skin imperfections, leaving you with smooth, beautiful skin.

Though surgical facial rejuvenation procedures are often quite effective, they can also come at a cost. These procedures can produce scarring and require longer recovery times. Avoid invasive surgeries and experience quality skin resurfacing for facial rejuvenation with the help of a chemical peel. With a chemical peel, you can get smooth, beautiful skin, taking years off of your appearance. Chemical peels can clear up the skin and remove many shallow and deep skin issues, including acne and sun damage.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

The chemical peel process involves brushing a specially formulated solution of chemicals onto the skin. This solution creates a controlled removal of the injured skin cells of the superficial skin layers, causing them to slough away over time. New, fresh skin cells grow in their place, free of any irregularities. The rejuvenated layers of skin have a smoother, youthful, and more radiant appearance.

The Different Types of Chemical Peels

The Different Types of Chemical Peels

There is a wide variety of chemical peels with different solutions and intensities designed to address different types of skin concerns. In general, there are three different depths that chemical peels come in:

Light Chemical Peels

Also known as superficial peels. This peel focuses on addressing the surface layer of skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and treat acne, poor skin tone, and dryness. The treated areas will take one to seven days to heal.

Medium Chemical Peels

A more intense type of chemical peel that penetrates to the middle layers of the skin. Medium peels can be used to treat wrinkles, lines, age spots, discoloration, rough skin patches, and other skin conditions like actinic keratosis. This type of peel takes seven to 14 days to heal.

Deep Chemical Peels

The strongest type of chemical peel. These peels reach from the surface layer of skin to the lower layer of the dermis. Deep chemical peels can treat more prominent wrinkles and lines, scars, age spots, and freckles. They are the most intense peel and can only be performed once. Deep chemical peel recovery time is around two weeks.

What to Expect After a Chemical Peel

What to Expect After a Chemical Peel

Chemical peel results vary from type to type. Following a light chemical peel, clients can expect some redness, dryness, and mild irritation on the skin. A topical solution can be applied to help soothe the skin. After medium peels, redness, swelling, and some tightness may occur, along with some crust developing in the skin as it heals. Over-the-counter medication can manage the discomfort that you may experience. Deep chemical peels can cause significant swelling and redness, and the skin will need to be dressed. Some clients may experience a burning or throbbing sensation, for which pain medication can be provided.
